Aurora Math ry is a non-profit association founded by people passionate about education, mathematics, and the arts. We make mathematics and STEM fields more visible in society and bring them beyond the classroom.
We inspire children and young people to tackle real-world challenges by combining science, art, and a high-quality festival atmosphere.
We carry out our mission through four programs. They are organized both in schools and outside the school day, and they engage not only teachers and students but also parents and STEM enthusiasts.
Sparks early interest in mathematics, natural sciences, creativity, and family involvement
In 2024–2025, we organized four festivals in Helsinki, attended by over 400 families and more than 600 children and young people. The average participant rating was 9.7/10 and the NPS was 89.7%.
Children solve mathematical problems and explore science, maker, and technology stations. Parents take part in logic tasks and talks. Multilingual and inclusive.
A school lesson program launching at the start of the 2026–2027 season that sparks children’s curiosity about STEM topics.
Mentors from the EO STEM Jam community organize small-scale events in schools, helping us inspire interest in a new way among children who are not yet excited about mathematics and science. At the same time, we support fast-moving students who need more challenge.
Coming soon
A new robotics and technology initiative will be launched soon. It will develop children’s skills in robotics, computer science, and artificial intelligence.
Mission Planet
We make real-world challenges visible to young people and strengthen their ability to act as pioneers and solve problems together.
Why does mathematics need new ways to inspire?
Many children approach mathematics with curiosity in primary school, but their enthusiasm often fades later. At the same time, math skills have declined in Finland and across Europe, even as the importance of mathematics in developing thinking, problem-solving, and future skills continues to grow.
Aurora Math strengthens children’s interest in mathematics and STEM in new ways. We organize festivals, competitions, and school events where children solve problems, collaborate, and experience mathematics as meaningful, creative, and inspiring.
We believe that every child can find their own path in mathematics when learning is meaningful, practical, and experiential.
Aurora Math ry is a non-profit association founded in 2025, based in Espoo. The association’s goal is to increase the visibility of mathematics and natural sciences in Finnish society and to provide children and young people with positive learning experiences outside school.
The association’s activities are guided by its bylaws, and its primary purpose is to promote the role of mathematics and natural sciences, organize educational events, and develop learning methods.
Our team consists of experts in education, mathematics, natural sciences, art, communications, and technology, as well as STEM-enthusiastic volunteers.
We work together so that more and more children can discover the joy of mathematics, science, and creative problem-solving.
Anyone who wants to support our mission and promote the visibility of mathematics and natural sciences in Finland can become a member of Aurora Math ry. The hardest problems of the next 30 years are probably climate, energy, AI, biotech, conflicts, and they won't be solved by any single discipline. They will be solved by people who can think across them.
The fourth graders of today will inherit these challenges.
Aurora Math exists to ensure students are prepared not only academically, but with the pioneer readiness, creativity, and sense of responsibility that their work will demand.
Our long-term vision is to inspire and prepare the next generation for the bigger challenges.

Impactful support
Aurora Math ry builds festivals, school programs, and learning initiatives that change the way children and families experience mathematics, science, and future skills.
We have already demonstrated demand for and viability of our flagship format by organizing four EO STEM Jam festivals without significant foundation funding, reaching 400 families and achieving an excellent participant rating of 9.7/10. This early growth has been made possible by families, volunteers, private supporters, and the people who believed in the idea before it became visible.
We grow because a community of like-minded people and organizations has chosen to support a new way of making STEM meaningful, experiential, and accessible.
Companies
Companies can support children's access to high-quality STEM experiences while also building a credible narrative around education, future skills, and social impact. A partnership can include employee volunteering, expert workshops, mentoring, STEM activations, or support for family participation. We offer ready-made impact materials to support communications and CSR-/ESG work: figures, media materials, stories, and reporting summaries.
Foundations and public funders
Foundations and public funders can help us expand our initiatives beyond Uusimaa and bring high-quality STEM experiences to more regions in Finland. We focus on accessibility, inclusion, multilingual support, and measurable outcomes. Together with foundations, municipalities, schools, and public actors, we can build a new regional phenomenon around mathematics, science, and family learning, especially for communities with limited opportunities for inspiring after-school STEM activities.
Our projects include clear planning, feedback collection, impact reporting, and reusable models for future implementation.
Individuals
Aurora Math ry is built on initiative, private support, and community trust. We are deeply grateful to the families, volunteers, and private donors who helped us in the earliest stage of our development. Recognizing private initiative and personal contribution is part of our DNA, and it remains one of the main driving forces behind our work.
